Toes Forward!
Running, jumping or landing? Don't do this!
One of the most important motor cues we’ve been training this season is “toes forward” while running, jumping, and landing.
There is a tragic but valuable example of why this cue is so important in the video clip below:
Check out how linebacker Stephen Tulloch’s feet/toes are pointed outwards in a “duck footed” position when he jumps and lands in celebration after a sack last Sunday. Despite what looked like a modest hop, the resulting valgus stress on his left knee resulted in a torn ACL requiring surgery.
Thought it was a powerful example of the importance of using our bodies the way they’re designed to be used.
